Are there other costs besides my monthly tuition?
Yes. There is a one-time, non-refundable $100 registration fee to reserve your spot in our class before starting. We will waive the fee if you refer another parent to our preschool in the first seven days of your free trial.
Is this an online "learning" video game?
No. There are NO video games to our online preschool program... just real, social interaction between an amazing preschool teacher (that's ME!) and a small class of amazing preschool friends all around the country.
What's the difference between your online preschool and Hooked on Phonics or ABC Mouse?
The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that preschoolers have no more than 1 hour of screen time. Would you have your child use that one hour on high-intensity video games or have face-to-face social interactions that will help your child develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and linguistically?
I believe preschool is a hands-on experience, and playing video games to "learn" isn't how we do things at online preschool.
What if my child is shy, active, loud, crazy, etc.?
After 14 years of teaching in person and online, I think I've seen just about every type of person. I'm excited to teach your child and help him or she has a wonderful experience!
What requirements do I need to participate?
You'll need internet and a laptop or desktop computer. You can use an iPad or a phone, but we don't recommend it because it's too hard to see everyone's faces and socialize with them.
What are your services for students with ASD?
All of my services are available to students on the spectrum. However, Students must be able to engage in dialogue and follow directions at a basic level. For Pre-k and Kindergartners, I recommend a caretaker or parent attend the zoom session with your child to help redirect if needed.
What does your program offer?
I use research-based methodologies best suited for your child's learning needs. I monitor behavior and progress closely to make sure your child is receiving the best service possible. I have the flexibility to change my approach if your child is not responding as expected. Experience has taught me that there is not a one-size-fits-all approach when working with ASD.
What techniques do you use for improving reading comprehension?
I use a variety of resources to create a program that addresses your child's specific needs. I intend to help your child make personal connections to their reading, learn to generalize, and begin to access learning beyond rote memorization and trained responses.
Do you meet online?
Yes! I will meet your child online. Meeting online provides parents and students flexibility and saves up time in their schedule used up by travel. Consider what you can do with all that extra time!
How does an online meeting work?
I will use Zoom to work with your child efficiently. Each feature allows us to talk, see each other, share screens, and document both ways while we are meeting. It is an easy process to set up; you or your child may already be using some of these platforms. Either way, I can walk you and your child through the setup.
Are electronic meetings as effective as meeting in person?
Yes! The technological advancements available to us these days make it easy, and most students are comfortable with this arrangement. There are much online training, tutoring, and coaching commonly use them.
*Please note: While I strive to help all students that come to my assistance, I do not have the training to help those with severe disabilities, but I will assist in making referrals to a specialized source for those students outside my expertise.
